Remember Who You Are

Remember who you are today. I'm taking steps this week to get back to the basics in some very specific areas of my life. It’s almost like in a sense I forgot who God called me to be in some key ways. Compromise took some territories that I let slip. Lack of confidence skidded like loose skates across my heart, and my own efforts reached for things and pulled some muscles along the way. I’m a bit of a mess, but I’m here to simply share in my journey so that maybe we can do it together in a way that encourages each other.

No matter where you’re at, know you’re not alone. Take a breath. We can be a mess and yet fully and entirely loved. We can have it together in some ways and not so much in all the other ways. Life's a journey. Decisions map our path, but it’s never too late to make a turn for the better. Don’t overwhelm yourself, be gentle.

Take the pressure off so you can pull back the layers. Order take out, use paper plates and plastic silverware. Find the heart of the matter. Take a walk even if you don’t have time to grab your walking shoes. Give yourself time to process. You don’t need to know all of it all the time. Small steps.

Remember the simple things. Rock your sweatpants and tease your hair instead of combing it. Dance just because no one’s watching. Be who you are behind the scenes and begin to invest in yourself in all the ways you need to right now.

I’m challenging myself to post every day this week to share what I’m doing to get back to my basics. I’m not making any rules for what these posts will look like. They could be practical or creative and abstract, but I hope no matter what they look like that they’ll help you in your own journey to get back to the things that truly matter most. You're worth all the things that matter most.
