Who Are You Fighting For?

Who are you fighting for? What are you fighting for? Are you pursuing your dreams yet? Have you set forth step worthy goals for yourself? More than a resolution, more than a “word” for the year, more than a fresh start, have you taken the time to map out what it will truly take to be in the midst of a life beyond your wildest imagination?

Maybe it’s too daunting or you’re afraid of it. If so, have you recognized that maybe you are a little scared, tired, somewhat worn out? That’s okay because it makes you start asking questions. Asking questions helps you find your way through the cobwebs and the stubble.

Have you dared to ask yourself what you’re afraid of? Simply answering what you’re afraid of is a good start. When you discover what you’re afraid of, sometimes you realize what matters to you. It allows you to illuminate your life in a way that the fears are no longer stumbling blocks, instead they’re lighting the way. And when you realize what really matters, that opens the door for you to fight for it. So then, when you finally see it, you either pick up your sword and fight or you don’t, but it’s so much better when you do.

Maybe the shield feels heavy, and you don’t feel like you trained enough with your sword, or maybe you feel wounded from battles prior. That’s okay to recognize, but it’s not an excuse to stay stagnant. Sometimes all it takes is to get out there and start swinging again. No matter how inexperienced or weak you feel, you just need to show up and that’s what makes the difference. When you show up, you learn and you get stronger. When you show up, you’re putting time in, and that develops discipline and consistency. It creates a true warrior. I believe that you are a true warrior.

Another thought is, have you considered that maybe it isn’t even about your dreams? It could be more about becoming who you were meant to be all along. Maybe the practice and the training isn’t really the entire point. It’s all creating something within you that matters more than the to do list itself. Maybe the goals are really just about you learning to stay true to yourself and become more.

Did you know that when you don’t keep a promise to yourself, you can actually learn to not trust yourself. Vice versa, if you stay faithful to the goals you set, you’re gaining trust and confidence. You allow yourself to dream when you reach your goals. You’re finding direction. You’re actually setting out on a path every time you dream a little further.

You might not know where you’re going all the time, but that doesn’t matter. All that matters is you’re on your way, and if it’s the wrong direction, then the worst case scenario is you’ll redirect. But it’s much easier to redirect than start and stop, over and over again. You’re worth answering all of these questions for yourself. Your life is worth the time it takes to pursue more. So, who are you fighting for today? What goals are you setting? What kind of life are you dreaming up and pursuing? Who are you fighting to become?
