Sunset and Wildfire

Sun’s light casting vivid hues down
Angel halos cascading from heaven’s height
Clouds blending like water colors
Painted amidst summer rain showers
Brush strokes of sun and haze
With a whiff of forest fire
Betraying the secret of mountain’s valley
And a matches’ kiss to dust and bark
The heart of a new pulse
A new beast taking deep breaths
Like a smoldering sunset
Hungry for the mountain top
Red smoke evaporating
Into burnt apricot clouds
Mountain’s dark valley set fire
In sunset’s shadow
In the pursuit of light and dark
Season and change
