Drink Some Water
At first I wanted to start this out with, “it’s time to kick myself into gear,” but that isn’t fair to where I’m at. That isn’t even really fair to where I am going, because that isn’t my goal at this time at all. Instead I’m trying to slow my tug boat down, let it take in some air and float a little bit. It’s time to be kind.
I want to remind you to be kind to yourself today. Remember to slow down and take deep breaths. Don’t forget to look around you and find something to be grateful for. I’m talking, get on your hands and knees, down to the heart beat of your life and discover the beauty of where you are, who you are and where you’re going.
And I don’t mean the simple little phrases like, “be positive, be grateful… look on the future with hope and shimmery filters that sparkle and shine because that’s what is expected if you want to be the image of health and beauty…” — No, no, no. What I’m referring to is greater and deeper than simple phrases you can put on a t-shirt or slap across a coffee mug.
I’m talking about, getting your fanny off the couch… stop putting so much sugar in your coffee every morning, get outside and pinch yourself awake so you end up remembering that you are a living, human being that actually needs certain things to be alive. Like, “thriving” alive… not just “existing” alive. Like, drink a glass of water first thing in the morning, because your body needs it because you’re about to go on an adventure, alive!
In fact, if you haven’t yet, stop reading this and go get yourself some water, drink it, pour yourself another glass and then continue reading.
Seriously… your body will thank you :) I’m not speaking from having conquered this enticing revelation. I’m actually drinking some water right now… (as I imagine you drinking your glass of water too - yay, go us!). — Cheers!
I’m beginning a new journey today and I’d love for you to join me if you’d like. It’s an invitation to be kind to yourself and make life feel a little more adventurous.
For the rest of 2020, I’m making a goal to post once a week to this blog. Why? Because I want to share the journey with you, so we can inspire each other to pursue our dreams and enjoy the steps it takes to be a little braver each day.
I plan on this piece of the blog being a little more uncut, raw… “rough speaking voice style” if you’ll please. So, I’m not promising anything polished, but I am inviting you on tiny adventures of my life, because I believe that life is supposed to be an adventure. And if you don’t feel like yours is right now, then — take another drink of water, because you’re going to need it to embrace the life I’m talking about.
Sooooo, let’s get started with three words I’m embracing this year:
A D V E N T U R E
M I S C H I E F & J O Y
I genuinely believe that every day should feel like an adventure, with a little bit of mischief hidden in strategically sneaky places and enough joy to laugh and smile even when things get hard or stressful.
So, I hope you like this uncut, unapologetic side that I’m about to share each week. It might get a little random, hopefully somewhat practical, but also creatively absurd at times. So today, it’s about being kind to yourself.
Understand that I’m also talking to myself here.
I’m reminding myself to be kind to myself by paying attention to my physical health. Re-implementing work out routines, drinking water and making sure I’m letting stress out of my physical body on a regular basis. Sometimes I pay more attention to my spiritual or emotional health than I do to my physical. I like to think about why I’m stressed or what kind of workout routine is best or how I should start out my days, more than actually implementing it all. I could research endlessly, know why and what I want to do and yet never get down to the basics of actually doing it.
So, as a first step to embracing my life as an adventure, I’m going to make sure I’m being kind to my physical body. I’m not weak. You’re not weak. Our bodies need and want to get stronger. As a living vessel, our muscles were created to stretch and grow stronger, to protect our existence, feel good by simply being used and treated well with proper nutrition and good daily habits. So… that is my journey today, my realization and my challenge.
And this is the beginning of sharing and expressing that journey. I hope you not only enjoy these posts, but I also hope they challenge you as well to live a more adventurous, free and breath filled growing stronger kind of life! The kind of life that is unapologetic in not settling for anything less than stronger and rested and kind and slowing down and considering, but also unhesitating in pursuit for adventure, mischief and joy.
