Iced Over Water Puddles
Iced over water puddles
On my windshield
Frozen flecks of wet drops
Stilled in motion
Time stops
And for a moment
I think the world stops
But a horn honks
And my heart stammers
Back into chilled pulse
Frosted finger tips tap
Seconds tick by
Idly…
Lazily?
Gently, but
Mostly hauntingly
Too much time sits
In the in-between
Too many thoughts
Crystallized, dangling.
Holding me close
And yet so far away
Tears
Drop
And Freeze
I’m left
A frozen fleck
My own stillness
Numb, I cling.
