Choosing Happy

Today I decided that I am choosing happy
I choose strength
I choose to search for the light at the end of the tunnel
or at least to move toward it as though it exists

I choose to put me first
- in all things
To live with the understanding that though the wind may blow to the left or to the right
- I will not sway

My feet are firmly planted
Even when facing what may feel as defeat
I choose not to retreat - rather to stand tall
& opt for a heart full of gratitude

I choose happy
happiness
I choose me
