Hourglass Prompt

"It's not the sands you should be concerned with," the old man said, and though I wasn't watching his expression, I could hear the smile he was barely suppressing.
"Not the sand?!" I spat back. "That's all there is! One minute and it's all gone! " He inhaled once then, seeming to steady his voice.
"Try harder, and yet... Look more gently," he offered, no longer so jovial, but still speaking gently.
"Well. Now I get it. Great. Beautiful. Man, that makes no sense!" I snarled.
"It does, child. You see but the moment, and that moment is near gone. But that is not the point of this glass. I didn't present you with time, but rather the two worlds reflected in the glass. Both are yours and all the moments are but passing sands between them."
