Prompt I

HILLS and valleys
By: Joann landon

Oh how deep and
complex are the depths
of the hills & valleys
of the human mind

An endless journey
that only a few
get to see from my
perspective

High highs &
Low lows

Piercing echos from
a voice deep within

A soul crushing reality
to be told I'm not
supposed to be me

High highs & Low lows
don't cry for me
You see I like it here
I don't mind the narrator
that brings others
fear

They say she's not
supposed to be here
The white dust silences her;
quiets her voice...

Now I can't feel her near

Some many others
just like me
Living life in an
emotionally imbalanced
valley of hills
With High highs & Low
lows
I'm not asking to be
freed
Just asking that you'd
be okay with me being me.

Moments
By: Kayla Morrill

Put your hand to the plow and the fruit will come. There will be joy in the work and even greater rejoicing in the harvest. The beauty of every season will be seen. Be in each moment. Don’t take it for granted. Take time to enjoy the view.

Promise Land
by: Cassie A. Green

My opportunity
My land
My blessing

As I step into this promise land
I promise to admire it
Respect it
And fight for it

I promise to see it for what it is
A gift
Blessing
And also ‘mine’

Mine to water
Care for
Get to know
Walk upon
And love

Mine to harvest and gather
To dream on
And call home

Mine to declare greener than any other land
To circle in prayer
And look to God for guidance on

This is my promise
My place
My conversation with God

So He can reveal His plan
His blessing
And His language of love

FLIGHT
By: Andrea Kitsmiller

I come here to remember

To let the wind
Whip through my hair

Everything else in the world
becomes silent and still

Allowing the memories
and the voices of the past
to live again
to remind me of who I am
and how I am loved

I could almost take flight

Not the Ocean
By: Ivy Fox

The grass moves like an ocean, blowing sideways in the wind. This ocean isn’t one you can travel in a boat...this ocean is one you must travel on foot. The hills roll out endlessly, for as far as anyone can see. Who knows what lies beyond them? Who knows what islands, what treasures are waiting to be found in this vast sea of grass? It’s a good thing the girl has a sense of adventure, a curious heart that’s always asking, “Where else can I go?” She’s certain to find satisfaction here, in this grassy ocean of unknowns. Maybe, as she battles the wind and clouded storms, she’ll find something that will satisfy her forever. Something unchanging, something that can’t be blown about in the wind. Maybe, once she finds it, her adventures will end. Because what is the point of wandering and searching and asking, when your heart already knows the greatest thing of all?

Worth
by: Joann landon

In the deepest valley oh lord
you can find me here
worth more than rubies

You'd leave all the other sheep
just to search for me

tucked away
In the deepest valley
is my silent cry
Like a silent a whisper
that even I can barely hear
Calls you to action
And then I feel you here

What kind of love is this?

I'm so unworthy
Yet you value me most
holding me close
my heart in your hand

Even in the stillness of night
you come searching for me

To bring me back to you

Because you see

my

worth
