Prompt III
California Vibin’
By: JoAnn Landon
I can see myself here
With the palm trees and the hot summer breeze
A constant vacation
I can vibe with it
We move to the same beat
Cali and me
This air is so sweet
Sunkissed memories of hopes once dreamed
Linger in my mind
What would it have been if I dared to act on those dreams
You know just went for it
Threw caution to wind
Walk Toward the Sun
By: Katie Murphy
I am so glad to be walking past the word STOP, for I know what lies ahead at the end of the street.
If I hurry, I'll make it to the beach on time, in time to watch the sun slip into the ocean.
And when it is done, and I've savored the miracle long enough, I will turn around and go back up the street. And I will ignore the stop sign once again.
East Coast Sunrise
By: Michelle Ramirez
They had traveled to the east coast for the first time. It was always the west coast for them. Always watching the sunset at the beach. However, no sunset at the beach on the east coast. They would have to get up really early to see their first sunrise on the beach. As the alarm went off, she quickly hit snooze and nudged her daughter. “Come on, get up, we don’t want to miss it.” Getting up early on vacation seems so wrong, but it was worth it. Another first for them. Sunrise on the beach – Check!
don’t miss the stars
by: Kayla Morrill
As the world shouts stop with a sunset, nature leaves colors fading to finish the day. Don't give up yet. Connect with the colors that are exploding to urge you to grab on to more. Each angle of the day provides for a new picture. Grab ahold of it and make something happen. Here's the secret - as the colors of the sun disappear, the stars jump to attention and there is even more of the day to be had. Don't let the story finish before the ending is told.
Sunset Strip
By: Jacey Carroll
The smiles of dreamers
shone bright like the
setting sun's rays,
but their glimmer
masks a lingering pain.
A desperation
to be seen
and known
and loved.
To possibly
sparkle
in the eye of
someone,
somewhere.
The sun sets late
over a sleepy
Los Angeles,
with dreamers
in the back pocket
of a dusty sky.
How they long to reflect
the shine
of a dying sun.
Sunset’s glow
By: Cassie A. Green
Goals for summer all trending to get lost in the sunset. Time taking over as it seizes the end of each day.
She took steps into the street, coming out of the common shadow to make her own silhouette in the blinding rays. Some avoided the night, walking away from the streets after dark, but she felt drawn to take what felt like her first steps into the sun’s farewell glow.
To chase the sunset? Maybe, but more to add her song, her story, her mark to this time of day. Like chalk to a rain storm, she was there before the dark, but would blend into the night. Because while every one else lost track of time, she found she had more by watching the sun set and the night begin.
